Nordics down Wolves

Girls Basketball

FELCH — North Dickinson, led by sophomore Ashton Hord’s 17 points, turned back Carney-Nadeau 42-37 in non-conference girls basketball Friday at Carl F. Lemin Gymnasium.

The Nordics (5-1) carried a 24-18 lead into the fourth quarter.

“Very physical game,” said ND Coach Kirk Mattson. “We had lots of bodies flying around and that attributed to the low scoring. Our girls were prepared to play. It’s always rough and physical with Carney.”

The Wolves outscored the Nordics 19-16 over the final eight minutes.

“I’m very happy with the effort,” Mattson said. “We did a better job of rebounding.

“We left everything on the court and couldn’t be prouder.”

The Nordics continue non-league play Jan. 8 against Mid Peninsula at ND.

CN outlasted ND 38-34 in overtime in the junior varsity game.
