Johnson, Wonders combine for 54 points
ISHPEMING — In what was both teams’ first game after the holidays, Iron Mountain defeated Ishpeming 67-45 in West PAC/Mid-Peninsula Conference boys basketball action Friday.
Powered by a 23-point second quarter, the Mountaineers improved to 4-0 on the season.
Marcus Johnson led all scorers with 29 points, while going 13-13 from the free throw line. Foster Wonders added 25 points, including three 3-pointers.
“We had a good late second quarter run, after a bit of a slow start,” said Iron Mountain head coach Harvey “Bucky” Johnson. “We had a 22-point lead going into the fourth and everyone got to play.”
Iron Mountain travels to Gladstone on Monday for non-conference action.
In the JV game, Iron Mountain prevailed 54-53 in overtime. Joey Colavecchi led the Mountaineers with 15 points.
