Schuls earns top award

Senior named NLC Offensive Player of the Year

CRANDON, Wis — Florence senior Kaden Schuls was named Offensive Player of the Year, while earning a spot on the first team, as the Northern Lakes Conference boys basketball coaches selected their all-conference teams and special awards at Crandon High School on March 1.

Schuls averaged 20.8 points, four assists, 5.6 rebounds and 5.6 steals per game, while surpassing the 1,000-point plateau during the season.

Fellow senior and 1,000-point scorer Riley Hixon was named to the second team. Hixon netted 14.8 points per game, while grabbing four rebounds per contest. Hixon dished out 1.2 assists per game, also recording 2.1 steals.

Goodman-Pembine sophomore Boone Larison joined Hixon on the second team. Larison finished second in the NLC in scoring with 16.9 points per game, while grabbing 5.1 rebounds. Larison distributed 3.7 assists per game, while averaging three steals,

Laona-Wabeno won the conference championship with L-W head coach Bill Taylor being named Coach of the Year. Named NLC Defensive Player of the Year was senior Jesse Pakulski of Laona-Wabeno.
