Norway netters tie Gwinn, 3-3

Gilroy wins her first match of the season

GWINN — Norway traveled to Gwinn for non-conference girls tennis action Wednesday and tied the Modeltowners, 3-3. The Lady Knights had wins from No. 1 singles Kali Stanchina, a forfeit win at No. 2 doubles from Andi Carlson-Averie Popp and, getting her first win of the season, No. 3 singles player Mackenzie Gilroy.

“We celebrated Mackenzie’s first win of the season. She’s been working really hard to improve her ground strokes and it paid off,” said Norway coach Cassandra Gustafson.

“Kali played a great match and I would have liked to see her finish it but her opponent injured her ankle and had to default. Marley (Tobey) played a tough two sets- she is improving each week and her matches are getting closer,” Gustafson added.

Norway returns to action Monday, when they travel to West Iron County for non-conference action.
