Forest Park drops VB decision to Rockets
CRYSTAL FALLS — In Skyline Central Conference volleyball Thursday night, the Forest Park Lady Trojans returned to action after a three-week layoff. The host Trojans were defeated by Rapid River 3-2 (25-22, 22-25, 16-25, 25-19, 15-6) in the Eddie Chambers Memorial Gymnasium.
“Despite us losing, I think our girls played well. We haven’t had a match for three weeks so I wasn’t sure what to expect,” said first year Trojans coach Bobbi Jo Anderson.
“We started off a little slow in sets No. 1 and No. 2 but gained momentum in sets No. 3 and No. 4. Rapid started off strong in set 5 and we weren’t able to gain the momentum back like we had hoped,” Anderson said.
The Trojans remain home for back to back matches to start off next week. FP hosts Munising in a make-up match from Oct. 1 on Monday. On Tuesday, the Trojans entertain West Iron in non-conference action.
“We are definitely improving and the girls are working hard. Gracie Peterson and Megan Bucek had a great night with numerous blocks and kills. Maddie Divine also stepped up for us tonight and had an outstanding game,” Anderson said. “Our setter, Rayven Jacobson did a nice job running down the ball and getting it to our hitters. Overall, I’m happy with our performance.”
