Wykons sweep Forest Park

CRYSTAL FALLS — Cross- county rivals squared off Tuesday night, as Forest Park hosted West Iron in non-conference volleyball at the Eddie Chambers Memorial Gymnasium in Crystal Falls. The visiting Wykons defeated Forest Park 3-0 (25-22, 25-13, 25-19).

“It was a frustrating night for us. We didn’t play well, we had little communication, lack of energy and too many missed opportunities,” said Lady Trojans coach Bobbie Jo Anderson. “We got down on ourselves early and gave up. Volleyball is largely a mental game and we need to be able to work through our mistakes”

It was Senior Night Tuesday night for Forest Park. “I would like to thank our seniors: Megan Bucek, Paige Mianecki, Elaina Perry, Macy Johnson and Aubrianna Ahola for their time and dedication to our volleyball program. They have been true role models on and off the court and will be missed greatly next year,” said Anderson.

West Iron returns to action tonight, as they travel to West PAC Conference foe L’Anse.

Forest Park’s next two matches are canceled; their match at North Dickinson tonight, and at Kingsford on Tuesday, due to Dickinson County schools holding virtual learning as a precaution for the pandemic.

The Trojans return to action Oct. 29 at Bark River-Harris.
