Trio of Patriots lead Goodman-Pembine past Crandon, 59-36

PEMBINE, Wis. — With three players in double figures in scoring, led by junior Boone Larison with 18 points, the Goodman-Pembine Patriots boys basketball team cruised past Crandon 59-36. The Northern Lakes Conference contest was the opening game at Pembine High School for the Patriots.

“The first half was touch and go for a while, until we switched defenses. We went on a small run before halftime thanks to our defense,” said first year G-P head coach Joe Nutt. “In the second half we keep the pressure on and increased our lead.”

Nutt noted that three- point shots weren’t falling, so the Patriots pushed the tempo and got fast break buckets.

Jacob Kessel chipped in 13 points for the Patriots, while Landon Kalkofen added 11.

“Crandon played very well. They are a young team which will improve as the season progresses,” said Nutt.

The Patriots return to Goodman Monday night for another NLC matchup, hosting Elcho. On Thursday, G-P travels to Florence for another NLC tilt.

Crandon 18 18 — 36

Goodman-Pemb. 29 30 — 59
