Wolverines claw past Florence
CRIVITZ, Wis. — In non-conference girls volleyball action Tuesday night, Florence traveled south to Crivitz and was defeated 35-27. The Ladycats held a 18-17 lead at halftime, but Crivitz doubled Florence’s point total in the second half.
“In the second half, our shots didn’t fall. Crivitz played us very physical, and we all need to be able to play against a physical team,” said Florence head coach Brad Perry.
Freshman Isabella Millan led Florence with 13 points and nine rebounds.
Perry noted that senior Lacey Enders, who chipped in eight points and five rebounds, was able to match the Wolverines’ physicality. “Lacey had a huge height disadvantage defensively, but she gave it her best and I am very pleased with that,” said Perry.
“I am very pleased with how we’ve been playing defense,” Perry added. “We’re a lot further along defensively at this early point in the season than I thought we would be.”
With the loss, Florence falls to 2-4 on the season.
