IM girls fall to Westwood

ISHPEMING TOWNSHIP — Westwood dominated early and defeated Iron Mountain 67-35 in girls basketball action Tuesday.

The Mountaineers put three players in double figures for the game, but trailed 33-8 at halftime.

Annslee Runsat led Iron Mountain with 13 points while Claire Mongrain and Ellison Powell scored 10 apiece.

“I’m proud of us for playing hard for 32 minutes despite playing against an extremely talented team,” said Mountaineers coach Marcus Celello. “They’re a fast, strong and physical team that really presented some matchup problems for us.”

The Patriots were led by Natalie Prophet’s 21 points. Emily Nelson scored 20.

Iron Mountain (0-2) is back on the road Thursday at Calumet.
