Iron Mountain girls cagers chalks first win of season

MANISTIQUE — Annslee Runsat scored 18 points to lead Iron Mountain to its first girls basketball win of the season, 47-41 over Manistique.

Runsat had 11 of her points in the second quarter as the Mountaineers built a 28-24 lead.

“I’m very proud of how the girls played,” said IM coach Karen Ellis. “I was very happy with how we moved the ball. We had a few girls really step it up on defense as well.”

The Iron Mountain JVs won 35-31, with Callie Bianco and Anja Kleiman collecting 12 points each.

Ellis, the JV coach, has moved into the varsity role as well, as Marcus Celello has stepped down.
