CRYSTAL FALLS — In a non-conference boys basketball game Thursday, the top-ranked Division 4 team in the Upper Peninsula, Ewen-Trout Creek, defeated Forest Park 76-48.

E-TC junior Jaden Borseth netted a game-high 32 points for the Panthers, while teammate Eric Abramson chipped in 13 points and Kelsey Jilek added 12.

“Our guys played with great effort tonight on defense and that helped set the tone for us being aggressive on the offensive end as well. We really moved the ball well against their zones and played very unselfish basketball,” said Panthers head coach Brad Besonen.

E-TC, who improved to 10-1 on the season, had 23 assists, with Tommy Cousineau dishing out a team-leading 10.

“Jaden was outstanding tonight. It was one of the most efficient 30 point nights I’ve seen. I’m very proud of the things our guys our doing together on the floor with almost no live practice time,” Besonen added. “They’ve been great students in our film sessions.”

Senior Tommy Showers scored a team-high 13 points for Forest Park, while Gaven Rintala chipped in 12 points.

“The score makes things look rough tonight, but there were some positive things. They (E-TC) play fast and bring pressure, but we handled that pretty decent,” said Trojans head coach Kurt Lehmann. “Defensively we needed to get set up quicker. We need to be more consistent with that. Hopefully we continue to get better as a team.”

Forest Park (2-5) returns to non-conference action tonight, as they host cross-county rival West Iron. The Trojans won the JV game over E-TC.
