Flivver girls fall to Gladstone

KINGSFORD — Gladstone gained the lead in the second quarter and went on to defeat Kingsford 54-33 in Great Northern Conference girls basketball Monday.

The Flivvers led 12-10 after one but fell behind 26-18 by halftime.

“They came out in the second half and took it to us,” said Kingsford coach Jon Lorenzoni. “I’ll take a lot of the blame for this one. They outscored us 18-10 in the third and led by 16 going into the fourth.”

Seven players scored for the Flivvers, but none in double figures. Talia Wallis led with nine points and Christina Goldowski scored seven.

Gladstone senior Megan Crow, headed for Grand Valley State next season, led all scorers with 20 points. Alaina Trudeau added 15 points.

Kingsford (1-5) is at Marquette tonight.

Gladstone (5-1) is off until hosting Marquette on Thursday.
