STEPHENSON — Forest Park played a strong second half but lost to Stephenson 48-40 in girls basketball Tuesday.

The Trojans trailed 25-14 at halftime but cut the deficit to 30-28 entering the fourth quarter.

“We didn’t play good defense in the first half and we were soft against their 3-2 zone,” said Forest Park coach Kim Bjork. “We flipped a switch in the third. In the fourth we battled until the end, but we put them at the free throw line too many times.”

Lea LaChapelle and Gracie Peterson each scored 14 points to lead the Trojans.

“Our girls played well and they never gave up,” Bjork said. “We’ve had some close games and if our girls keep battling they are going to find a way to win one.”

Stephenson won the jayvee game 30-23.

The Trojans (1-12) host West Iron on Thursday.
