Mercier paces Gold Medal victories

HERMANSVILLE — Tyler Mercier’s 24 points led Powers CTR 44 to a 62-57 win over Powers Premium Mulch in Class E action Friday at the Hermansville Gold Medal basketball tournament.

Logan Hardwick had 18 points for PM while Griffin Johnson added 16.

In another Class E game, Mercier netted 20 points in a 65-54 win for Hermansville CTR 44 over Hermansville Wildwood. Tom Granquist had 23 for Wildwood. Also in Class E, Church Ballers of Daggett got a 55-52 win over Hermansville Wendricks Truss. Noah Gorzinski and Casey Wilson canned 13 apiece for Daggett.

In a Class B game, Matt Wagner’s 24 points led Bloniarz Famers and Parker Feed of Perronville to a 94-58 drubbing of Arms of Angels of DePere, Wis. Adam Lemorande’s 27 points led A of A.

In late games Thursday, R-Place of Spalding eked past Kakuk of Daggett, 75-72 in a Class C game. Tyler Mercier of R-Place and Matt Wagner of Kakuk each laced a game- high 24 points.

Josh Granquist added 22 points, while Tom Granquist netted 16 points, both for R-Place. Tyler Price chipped in 17 points for Kakuk.

Also in Class C, Dario Saric & Son of Iron Mountain, slipped past Superior Welding of Hermansville, 57-50. Cory Johnson scored a game-high 21 points for DS&S, while teammate Caleb Harrington netted 19 points.

Austin Poupore led the Welders with 13 points, while Trenton Schaff added 11 points.
