Niagara hammers Lady Rangers, 18-1
WAUSAUKEE, Wis. — Starting pitcher Noelle Champagne gave up only one hit and fanned nine batters, as Niagara powered past Wausaukee 18-1 in a Marinette-Oconto Conference matchup Thursday.
Champagne, a senior, also had two hits, two RBI’s and nine stolen bases in the contest.
“Overall, the girls played a good game, and I am happy with starting out the season in a good way,” said first-year Lady Badgers head coach Brad Richtig. “We also had good plate discipline tonight. “Florence will be a tough game for us today, playing them will show us where we’re at as a team to start the season.”
Niagara travels to Florence today for a non-conference doubleheader, beginning at 3:30 p.m. The Badgers travel to Gillett-Suring on Monday afternoon.
Haley Allred and Lillian Lukus each tallied 2 RBI’s for Niagara, while Abby Wells had seven stolen bases against Wausaukee.
