Kingsford soccer prevails in shutout

MARQUETTE — Kingsford’s girls soccer team traveled to Marquette Senior High School Thursday and took on the Redettes JV squad, with the Flivvers winning, 8-0.

“We played their jayvee team in a year where games are kind of sparse. It was a good game, everyone played a lot and the girls had fun,” said Kingsford head coach Jon Lorenzoni.

I’m glad we got to play the game, although the narrow field on turf presented a bit of a learning curve at first,” Lorenzoni added. The game was played on MSHS football field, which has an artificial surface.

“We’ve scored 24 goals in the last three games and Allyssa Englund has been solid when challenged in net,” Lorenzoni said. “Brooke Bittinger played another real solid game as did many others.”

The Flivvers, who remain unbeaten, travel to Rhinelander, Wis., on Tuesday.
