Knights spill Superior Central

NORWAY — A five-run opening inning and steady offense throughout the game powered Norway past Superior Central, 11-5 in game one of a Skyline Central Conference doubleheader Thursday at Mike Maule Field at Marion Park.

Michael Peterson was 2-4 with 2 RBI’s and scored three runs for the Knights. Brent Lagina went 3-3 with a walk and a run scored, while Chase Carlson cracked a triple and scored two runs for Norway.

Game two went through seven innings and was called due to darkness with the scored tied at 0-0.

“I am very happy with the way we played against a good Superior Central team. We are learning what it means to compete and we did that,” said Norway head coach Tony Adams.

Alex Ortman and Nolan Amundson also scored two runs for Norway in game one. Senior Gannon Bray and Ortman pitched for Norway, with Bray picking up the win.

“Gannon Bray didn’t have his best stuff tonight, but he’s a senior and I am proud of the way he battled,” Adams added.

“We played 13 innings today and committing only two errors shows we are capable. We learned a lot about ourselves.”
