Norway nips Gladstone

NORWAY — The host Knights plated a run in the bottom of the eight inning to slip past Gladstone 8-7 in a non-conference baseball game Thursday at Mike Maule Field.

“What a finish. Not the cleanest game, but we stayed positive. We had bases loaded in the bottom of the 7th and couldn’t convert,” said Norway head coach Tony Adams. “Glad to see us come back with a good 8th inning. Our dugout was phenomenal today, and I am happy for Gannon (Bray) on his Senior Day.”

Bray, the lone senior on the Knights team, toed the mound for four innings, allowing six runs, none earned, as the Knights committed six errors in the contest. He also drove in two runs, as did catcher Chase Carlson.

Carlson and Michael Peterson each had two hits, while Nolan Amundson scored three times to lead the Knights. Peterson and freshman Alex Ortman each scored twice.

Isaac Lorenzoni pitched the final four innings, fanning two and walking a pair. Bray had the same stat-line in walks and strikeouts.

The Knights remain home as they host non-conference foe Escanaba on Tuesday.
