FELCH — Sophomores Antonio Inglese and Wyatt Glasheen scored 14 points each as North Dickinson notched its first win of the 2021-22 season with a 44-30 victory over Mid Peninsula in a Skyline Central Conference game Friday at Carl F. Lemin Jr. Gymnasium.

The victory lifted a ton of frustration from the Nordics, who’ve been snake-bit all season by injuries.

“Very, very happy for the kids,” ND boys varsity coach Chris Mattson. “I’m proud of them all, they played their best game of the year.”

Things didn’t start as such. North Dickinson (1-10) stood tied with the Wolverines at 14-14 at halftime, but Inglese and Glasheen took over in the second half as the Nordics outscored Mid Peninsula 30-16 over the final 16 minutes.

The 44 points are the most North Dickinson has scored in a game this season.

“We have to fight for everything we get,” Mattson said. “The first win feels really good.”

Senior Colt Glasheen, back from injury, scored six points, as did Nicholas Conery.

Bobcats rebound with home win

FLORENCE, Wis. — The Florence boys basketball team banished thoughts of their defeat at Laona-Wabeno on Friday with a dominant 85-48 victory of Sevastopol in a non-conference game on Saturday at Florence High School.

The Bobcats, who dropped a 70-59 decision Northern Lakes Conference leader Laona-Wabeno on Friday, burst out to a 20-point lead at halftime. The second half turned into a scoring fest as Florence outscored the Mighty Pioneers 48-31 over the last 16 minutes.

Ten Bobcats scored in the victory.

“I thought our bench did a nice job for us tonight,” Florence coach Bryan Bomberg said. “With everyone scoring, everyone contributing to the boards, I’m happy with the game. We still need to get better on the defensive side of the ball and we will.”

Patrick Milan paced Florence with 18 points.

The Badgers (5-9) extended a seven-point halftime lead with a 36-20 spurt in the second half.

With the victory, Niagara snapped a three-game losing streak.
