Going Greens: Carlson leads DC over Niagara

IRON MOUNTAIN — Chase Carlson drove in 5 runs to lead the Dickinson County Greens past Niagara 14-4 in American Legion baseball action Tuesday at LiUNA Field.

Carlson drove in a run on a fielder’s choice in the second before his big blow, a grand slam homer, in the third.

Niagara started off on the front foot in the first inning, scoring on an RBI by Eddie Swanson. Ryan Erickson added a 2-run homer for the visitors, who finished with 3 hits.

Carson Chartier was credited with the victory for Greens. The right-hander went 3 innings, allowing 3 runs on 2 hits while striking out 3. Nolan Amundson threw 3 innings in relief, recording the last 9 outs to earn the save.

Cody Bath took the loss for Niagara, which used 5 pitchers. Niagara hurlers combined to strike out 1 while walking 9.

Greens recorded 10 hits in the game. Henry McRoberts, Sawyer Pugh, and Ian Popp each racked up multiple hits, while Michael Peterson, Riley Juneau, Luke Decker and Amundson logged a hit each.
