Knights’ Carlson selected SCC player of the year

NORWAY — Norway senior Chase Carlson was selected as the 2022 Skyline Central Conference “Player of the Year” in a recent vote by league coaches.
Offensively, Carlson hit .476 with nine doubles, 25 RBIs and 24 runs scored. He posted a .539 on base percentage, a .619 slugging percentage and an OPS of 1.159. He also stole 15 bases and was only caught once.
Defensively, Carlson threw out 25% of the runners who attempted to steal and also recorded two pickoffs. The versatile senior also pitched and compiled a 1-0 record with a 2.21 ERA.
“Chase has had a heck of a year so it was exciting to see him get player of the year,” Norway varsity coach Tony Adams said. “Proud of all of our guys who were honored for their seasons.”
Norway also put three players on the first team and two more on the second. Senior Nolan Amundson and sophomores Alex Ortman and Ian Popp were named to the first team, while juniors Carson Chartier and Michael Peterson was picked to the second team.
North Central put two players on the first team and three more on the second. Senior Alex Naser and sophomore Adrian Mercier were selected to the first team, while senior Brady Anderson and juniors Jesse Sampson and Andrew Webber were chosen for the second team.
Forest Park, in its first season, was represented by juniors Adrian Bruette and junior Payton Woollard, who both were picked to the second team.
