IRON MOUNTAIN — The Kingsford Flivver boys, the West Iron County girls and the Forest Park boys all claimed regional track trophies in the Division 1, Division 2 and Division 3 meets last week.

In Division 1 at Negaunee on May 15, the Flivvers totaled 78.6 points to win the boys trophy, while the Flivver girls placed fifth behind champion Negaunee with 15 points.

In Division 2 at Ishpeming on May 16, the Wykons edged the host Hematites 55 to 54 to capture their hardware.

The West Iron boys finished fifth behind champion Ishpeming with 3 points.

In Division 2 at Munising on May 17, Iron Mountain’s boys finished third behind champion Pickford with 36 points.

The Mountaineer girls placed fourth behind champion Bark River-Harris with 11 points.

In Division 3 at North Dickinson on May 18, the Trojan boys posted 71.5 points to bring the trophy home with North Dickinson in second with 33 points, North Central in third with 31.5 points and Norway fifth with 19 points.

The Lady Trojans finished second behind champion Stephenson with 40 points. North Dickinson placed fourth with 31, Norway took fifth with 25 and North Central finished sixth with 3.5 points.

By virtue of their distances and times at the respective regional meets, three local athletes will be the top overall seed, regardless of division, at the U.P. Track and Field Finals on Saturday, June 1 at Kingsford High School.

Kingsford’s Noah Johnson posted the best distances in both the shot put and the discus on the boys side.

For the girls, West Iron County’s Danica Shamion has the top 400 time and Forest Park’s Ava Fischer has the top 100 hurdles time.
