Badgers go 2-2 in Ashwaubenon
ASHWAUBENON, Wis. — The Niagara varsity volleyball team took its talents to Ashwaubenon, Wis. on Saturday and held its own, finishing 2-2 on the day with wins over Sevastapol (2-0; 25-16, 25-22) and North Fond Du Lac (2-0; 25-19, 25-20).
The Badgers’ losses came against West De Pere (2-1; 11-25, 26-24, 10-15) and Menasha (2-0; 19-25, 20-25).
“We had a great day, where we built a lot of confidence,” Niagara head coach Maryellen Allred said. “It was fun to play volleyball at a high level and show our capabilities against teams that are in a higher division than us. My girls showed a lot of character and toughness this weekend, and I am truly proud of them.”
Badgers’ senior Mallory Sanicki led the way with 23 kills on the day. She also compiled three aces, four blocks, four assists and 26 digs.
Niagara also received contributions from Elesia Sweig (3 aces, 2 kills, 27 assists, 10 kills), Rachael Walker (5 aces, 19 kills, 3 blocks, 2 assists, 16 digs), Raegan Frappier (3 aces, 13 kills, 2 blocks, 36 assists, 22 digs), Peyton Allred (1 ace, 9 kills, 2 blocks, 2 assists, 28 digs), Alyssa Hedmark (1 kill), Grace Payette (3 kills, 1 assist, 17 digs), Bristol Sanicki (8 kills, 2 blocks, 1 assist, 2 digs), Addison Wheeler (2 assists, 6 digs) and Alivia Kleikamp (8 kills, 5 blocks, 1 assist, 3 digs).
The Badgers take on Oneida Nation today at 5:30 p.m. at Niagara High School.
