Little League postseason play begins

IRON MOUNTAIN — Little League baseball and softball tournament action is taking place this week at area fields.

Local league titles will be decided before Little League all-star tournaments begin, offering opportunities in divisions for ages 8 to 16.

The Major baseball (ages 11-12) championship game is slated for 5:30 p.m. Friday at Marion Park in Norway. Florence-Neuens E&S, with a 12-2 regular season, is the top seed in the 15-team league.

The Major softball (ages 11-12) title game is at 5:30 p.m. Friday as well, also at Marion Park. Kingsford UP Color, with a 12-1 record, is the top seed in an 11-team circuit.

In Minor baseball (ages 9-10), the championship will be decided at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 25, at East Barkle Field in Iron Mountain. There are 15 teams. Regular season leaders were Kingsford Stephens Real Estate and Kingsford Midwest Snow & Lawn, both with 13-1 records, and Norway Northern Interstate Bank at 12-1-1.

Minor softball (ages 9-10) shows Kingsford 41 Lumber atop the standings at 10-2, followed by Florence Motor Sales at 9-2. The tournament championship in the 15-team league is set for 5:30 p.m. Monday at the Iron Mountain’s North field.

Junior softball decides its title at 5:30 p.m. Friday in Kingsford at Lodal Park’s North field. Norway Coleman Engineering was 10-0 during the regular season in the nine-team league.

In Junior baseball, Norway Knight Owl stands at 14-0.
