KINGSFORD — Michigan Little League All-Stars representing District 10 will meet Thursday at Kingsford High School, with a sendoff planned at 2 p.m. for their trip to Tecumseh for the Minors (ages 8-10) state tournament.

A fundraiser for the Kingsford squad will take place from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Solbergs Greenleaf in Iron Mountain.

A police escort is planned as the team heads out Thursday for the state tournament.

Opening ceremonies in Tecumseh are set for 6 p.m. Eastern time Friday. There is a 16-team field. Eight teams will advance to a single-elimination tournament after qualifying games Saturday, Sunday and Monday.

Kingsford defeated Norway 10-4 on Friday at Quinnesec Park for the District 10 title. The tournament field also included Iron Mountain, Iron County, Gladstone and Escanaba.
