Nordics turn tables in rout of Trojans

FELCH TOWNSHIP — In recent seasons, the North Dickinson Nordics have struggled to compete with the Forest Park Trojans. Over the last eight seasons, the Trojans have rung up scores like 53 points, 54 points, 60 points, 72 points and 64 points.

But Friday night, that all turned around as the Nordics posted a 58-7 victory over the Trojans in a Skyline Central Conference game at North Dickinson High School.

Spencer Kramer, Jason Graham and Tyler Fleming ran for two TDs each and Brady Jungwirth ran for one to lead the UPSSA 8-player fourth-ranked Nordics (3-0) to the lopsided victory.

Additionally, Jungwirth accounted for 207 yards with 103 yards running and 104 yards passing.

North Dickinson’s defense also stepped forward and held the Trojans (1-2) to 94 yards rushing on 29 carries (3.2 yards per attempt).

“We were very balanced,” ND coach Mike Christian said after the win. “We played great against a very good running team. There were always multiple guys on the tackles. I can’t be happier with our effort tonight.”

The Nordics also recovered four fumbles against the Trojans, who played without top running back Dax Huuki (injured ankle) and Colton Devore (out since getting injured in Week 1).

Forest Park also lost Aiden Waldo and Devin Bennett during Friday’s game.

North Dickinson tallied three TDs and three two-point conversions in the opening quarter. Kramer scored on a 6-yard run, Graham ran in from 12 yards and Jungwirth burst free for a 52-yard score.

The Nordics added three more TDs in the second frame on an 88-yard run from Fleming, a 34-yard scamper by Graham and a 3-yard score from Jungwirth to take a 44-7 lead into the halftime break.

The Nordics rushed for 275 yards against the Trojans’ defense. They never punted in the contest.

“North Dickinson is a very good football team,” FP coach Brian Fabbri said. “We started too slow and had too many mistakes to keep the game close.

“I expected ND to throw the ball around (but) they were able to control the line of scrimmage and dominate in the running game. All the credit to the ND team and coaching staff for playing a very good game Friday night.”

Kramer ran in from the 4-yard line and Fleming rushed for an 8-yard score, while Colten Roberts ran in for the conversion in the third quarter to account for North Dickinson’s final score.

Forest Park got its touchdown on a 45-yard touchdown pass from Noah Starr to Dietrich Rasner.

The Trojans finished the game with 125 yards passing on six receptions.

For the Nordics’ defense, Roberts recorded an interception, and Ty King recovered a fumble and an onside kick.

Trent Kannich posted eight unassisted tackles to lead the FP defense.
