Mountaineers, Wykons earn West-PAC football honors

Iron Mountain junior Brayden Kassin leads a contingent of Mountaineers collecting West-PAC All-Conference football honors this season.

Named to the first team offense at quarterback, Kassin also landed a first-team selection at defensive back in West-PAC awards announced Monday. He was tabbed as the conference’s top kicker as well.

Also named to the first team on offense were Iron Mountain’s Quinton Doty, a freshman running back, and Ethan Davis, a sophomore receiver.

West Iron senior Saul Kobusson earned a first-team slot at running back.

On defense, first team honors went to Iron Mountain’s Davis at outside linebacker, along with junior Connor Pickett at inside linebacker and junior Marcus Lindgren at defensive lineman.

West Iron senior Dominic Brunswick was a first-team selection at defensive end.

Conference champion Bark River-Harris saw junior Gionni McDonough named offensive player of the year, senior Sean Burton tabbed as lineman of the year and junior Lucas Martin selected as defensive player of the year.

The Broncos’ Caleb Adams was coach of the year.

L’Anse sophomore Vinny Seratti was named special teams player of the year.

Second team selections on offense included Iron Mountain fullback Gavin Winters, West Iron end Seth Oberlin and West Iron guard Donte White.

Second team honors on defense went to Iron Mountain’s Doty at defensive back, along with four Wykons — lineman Alex Ghiggia, outside linebacker Jacob Goriesky, inside linebacker Paxton Sapalicio, and defensive back Jessiah Smith.

Honorable mention selections included Iron Mountain offensive lineman Louis Fiorucci and West Iron offensive lineman Joel McWethy.
