Niagara edges LadyCats
Elesia Sweig limited Florence to four hits as Niagara earned a 3-1 softball win at home Friday.
Sweig struck out six, walked none, and helped her cause at the plate with a single.
The Badgers broke a 1-1 tie with a two-run rally in the bottom of the fifth. Grace Payette led the offense with a double and single and an RBI. Shelby Zittlow doubled and drove in a run.
Florence’s Sami Demuri pitched four innings, allowing a run and striking out five. Quinn Cassidy went two innings, giving up one hit and walking three. She also fanned three.
Demuri and Ashlyn VanDenHeuvel doubled for Florence.
