Kingsford goes 1-1 in tennis matches
Kingsford defeated West Iron on Tuesday but lost at Marquette on Thursday in boys tennis action.
In a 7-1 win over the Wykons, the Flivvers got wins in singles from Landon Adam, Isaac Lebouef and Evan Grymes.
West Iron’s only win came at No. 4 singles from Nathan Camps.
Kingsford’s sweep in doubles was courtesy of Clark Robb and Andy Yu; Beau Bracket and Alex Hemgren; Richard Waara and Jacob Waara; and Tyler Berglund and Gabe Mancuso.
In a 7-1 loss to Marquette, the Flivvers got a hard-fought victory from Lebouef at No. 2 singles.
“Caden Laurn and Evan Grymes had the match of the day (at No. 4 singles),” Marquette coach Karl Thomsen told The Mining Journal. “Both guys hit the felt off the ball, attacked the net and covered the court like a pro.”
The loss to Marquette dropped Kingsford to 6-1-1 on the season.
