Norway defeats Mountaineers 8-2
Four Norway pitchers limited Iron Mountain to six singles in an 8-2 six-inning win Wednesday at LIUNA Field.
“Pretty tough baseball weather for both teams,” said Norway coach Tony Adams. “We were able to put some runs together early and late, but we were too quiet in the middle on offense.”
The Knights scored three runs in the first inning and waited until the fifth to tack on four more.
Iron Mountain plated a run in the second and fifth innings.
Connor Pickett pitched a complete game for the Mountaineers, allowing eight singles, walking two and fanning two.
Norway pitchers Hunter Langin, Tristan Lessor, Tobi Anderson and Owen Bai walked six and struck out six. Lessor tossed three scoreless innings after Langin allowed a run in the first. Baij pitched a scoreless sixth.
Anderson and Baij slashed two singles each for the Knights. Lessor ripped a single and was credited with three RBIs while Elliott Kraemer also singled and drove in two. Cameron Varda and Kellan Amundson also had hits.
Iron Mountain’s Joey Wahoviak laced two singles. Gavin Winters, Lane Wender, Josiah Ringel and Pickett accounted for four more IM hits.
