Goodman Park to host candlelight hike Saturday

Nature table, hot chocolate for visitors

SILVER CLIFF, Wis. — Marinette County will host a candlelight hike on Saturday in Goodman Park under the full moon.

After the walk, warm in the lodge with hot chocolate and a fire. This will be about a 1-mile route that participants will do on their own by hiking or snowshoeing.

Anne Bartels, information and educational specialist for Marinette County Land Information, will offer her “hands-on nature table.” It is a collection of nature materials you can explore by touch — pelts, feathers, tree parts, and other items of interest.

There will also be free handouts about winter activities, wildlife and more. Hand sanitizer will be available.

If you haven’t been to Goodman Park and viewed Strong Falls, this is a great opportunity to do so. Goodman Park is in the town of Silver Cliff, a very rural area.

“We wanted to hold a fun activity during the winter to help people get outside,” said Allyson Bickel, program assistant for Marinette County Parks.

Saturday’s event begins at 6:30 p.m. and will end at 8.

Pit toilets will be available and hot chocolate will be served in the lodge. No running water is available at this time, so participants should bring their own water bottle.

Entry is $5 per car.

February’s full Snow Moon reaches peak illumination at 2:19 a.m. Saturday, according to the Old Farmer’s Almanac.
