Boats to race in Marinette
MARINETTE, Wis. — The inaugural Queen Marinette “Run the River” Powerboat Races will take place this weekend on the Menominee River.
American Pro Boaters Association sanctioned races are set for noon to 5 p.m. today and Sunday. About 60 to 70 race drivers from all over the country will be in Marinette, the EagleHerald reported. There will be 18 heats both today and Sunday.
Viewing will be available on shore on Riverside Avenue, with the street blocked off from North Raymond to Burns streets.Boats can reach speeds of 100 mph.
There is no admission charge. Food trucks and vendors will be available. No alcoholic carry-ins are allowed.
