Criticizes actions on fair board, 4-H

Speak Out

I just read the article, “Dickinson returns fair board to 11 members.” It sounded to me that the board is going to remove two members because they didn’t like their opinion.

I don’t know if these people are paid but I do know everyone who gives their time to make decisions for the fair loves the fair. I wonder if the board wants to make it so difficult for people to want to volunteer so different opinions are never heard. I think this is a slippery slope and the board should be careful.

The volunteers who give up their energy to support the fair are what makes the fair what it is. I can’t understand why the board doesn’t want to support, financially and emotionally, the people who make the fair great and the children who show their animal. Little seems less innocent and worth supporting. Volunteers want to be supported, not controlled.
