Bits and Bridles 4-H club seeks donations for events, programs

NORWAY — The Bits and Bridles 4-H club is seeking donations to help offset the costs of club events such as the annual horse show, as well as to be able to send 4H youth participants within the club to different programs for learning, such as the 4-H Expo Days at the Michigan State University campus. Post 50 fish fry on Friday

IRON MOUNTAIN — The Uren-Cooper-Johnson American Legion Post 50 will host a fish fry from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Friday at the hall. The dinners will include a choice of three-piece cod, eight fried shrimp, along with fries and homemade chips, baked beans and cole slaw. Cost is $14 per plate. Dine-in or takeout is available. Genealogicial group to meet

IRON RIVER — The Iron County Genealogical Society will meet at 1 p.m. Thursday in the J. Patrick White Conference Room at the West Iron District Library in Iron River. Sandie Nies will present the program, “Iron County’s Heritage Trail.” The trail has 14 designated sites along a 36-mile route, some of which are on the National Historic Register. NARFE gathering May 27 in Norway

NORWAY — The National Active and Retired Federal Employees group will meet at noon Tuesday, May 27, at Mike’s on Main in Norway.  This will be the group’s last meeting until September. All are welcome to attend.

Plant sale pre-orders available

BEECHWOOD — The annual Beechwood Historical Society Spring Plant Sale pre-order form is now available. Anyone interested can pre-order for May 16-17 pickup at the greenhouses at 6340 U.S. Highway 2, Beechwood, 10 miles west of Iron River. Payment is due at time of pickup. The greenhouses will be open to the public May 18 until the plants are gone. For a copy of the pre-order form email beechwoodhistoricalsociety@gmail.com.
