Bricks installed at UP Veterans War memorial

IRON MOUNTAIN — About 50 bricks were installed in October at the U.P. Veterans War Memorial on top of Pine Mountain in Iron Mountain. All of the bricks currently at the memorial have been recorded in a book and the towers are numbered. So those who want to know if someone has a brick at the memorial can have it looked up and be directed to the site where it is located. The bricks are installed twice during the year — the first in May just before Memorial Day and again in October before Veterans Day. Post 50 fish fry Friday

IRON MOUNTAIN — The Uren-Cooper-Johnson American Legion Post 50 will host a fish fry from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Friday at the hall. The dinners will include a choice of three pieces of cod or eight fried shrimp, along with fries, baked beans and cole slaw. Cost is $14 per plate. Dine-in or takeout is available.
