Houghton to host downtown snowboarding event

HOUGHTON — Snowboarding is coming back to downtown Houghton after 10-year absence. Jibba Jabba, a pro/amateur freestyle snowboarding event in which riders perform tricks down Huron Street is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 18. All are welcome to cheer on Jibba Jabba’s guest riders as they compete in the Jibba Jabba pro event at 6 p.m. Eastern time. IRON MOUNTAIN — Trail groomers were busy after Thursday’s snow storm, although travelwisconsin.com reported only “partially open” snowmobile trails in the southern part of Marinette County. Conditions in Florence County were good, with a base of 8 to 12 inches. Tri-County Snowmobile Club expected to have most of its system groomed by today, but colder weather is needed to freeze the swamps.
