Lions Club awards

Gordon Behnke, left, and Terry Youren of the Niagara Lions Club recently were presented with the prestigious Melvin Jones Awards. Making the presentation was 27-B2 District Governor Amy Quig of Pickerel, Wis. Melvin Jones was the founder of the International Association of Lions Clubs and the awards are the most important honor an individual Lion can receive. Behnke joined the Lions Club in 2004 and was sponsored by Gerald Kallenbach, He currently is president of the Niagara Lions and has compiled a distinguished record of service to the club, Niagara community and Lions International. Youren was sponsored by Kerry Grippen when he joined the Lions in October 1973. He currently is second vice-president of the club and has a long history of distinguished service to the Lions Club, Niagara community, and Lionism as a whole. He also serves a key role as the lead camera man for the club’s vision screening of children.
