Tootsie Roll Drive this weekend in IR

IRON RIVER — The Iron River Knights of Columbus Council 2300 will have its 49th-annual Tootsie Roll Drive on Columbus Day weekend Oct. 11-13. The public can watch for Knights in their yellow aprons, who will be stationed at several key businesses and post offices passing out Tootsie Rolls, seeking a donation in return. As in past years, the proceeds will be donated to the West Iron County special education teachers and staff for much-needed supplies and assistance. Stamp club meeting

IRON MOUNTAIN — The monthly meeting of the Northwoods Philatelic Society stamp club is scheduled for 7 p.m. Tuesday in the Fellowship Room of First Lutheran Church, 1210 S. Stephenson Ave. in Iron Mountain. The church is between Domino’s Pizza and Slumberland Furniture. A short business meeting and educational program will be followed by the usual informal stamp club auction. Post 50 hosts cribbage tournament on Oct. 19

IRON MOUNTAIN — The Uren-Cooper-Johnson American Legion Post 50 of Iron Mountain will host a monthly cribbage tournament starting at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 19. Cost is $20 per team, 25 cents for a 19 hand. The post plans to have cribbage tournaments every third Saturday of each month. The post is at 916 River Ave. in Iron Mountain.
