Larson’s ordination to priesthood today

DEACON DUSTIN LARSON

MARQUETTE — Deacon Dustin Larson will be ordained to the priesthood by Bishop John Doerfler of the Diocese of Marquette today during an ordination Mass at 3:30 p.m. Eastern time at St. Peter Cathedral in Marquette. He will receive his assignment at the ordination.

Larson, whose parish community is St. Albert the Great in Houghton, has been studying at Sacred Heart Major Seminary in Detroit since the fall of 2011. The Kalamazoo native began his studies at the seminary after earning a master’s degree in computer science from Michigan Technological University in Houghton.

As part of his formation for the priesthood, Larson was a missionary and leadership intern for Totus Tuus in the Diocese of Marquette. The Latin phrase means “totally yours,” signifying a desire to give oneself entirely to Jesus. Totus Tuus, provides weeklong summer parish retreats for youth across the Upper Peninsula.

“I am joyfully looking forward to ordination and helping you encounter our Lord Jesus,” Larson said. “Thank you for all your prayers these past several years.”
