Historic Wabeno Art Challenge applications due April 30

WABENO, Wis — Even during this COVID-19 outbreak, artists can work at home and still participate in the first Historic Wabeno Art Challenge.

The April 30 deadline is approaching and artists have about six weeks to submit their artwork plans.

The Historic Wabeno Art Challenge is open to anyone who would like to create an original piece of artwork showcasing Wabeno’s history. Their art will be displayed at the Wabeno Logging Museum over a two-month period this summer. There will be awards and an opportunity for artists to sell their work.

Resources, guidelines, ideas and applications can be found at https://wabenoartandmusicfest.org/art_options.

Want to create an entry but not sure what you will do? Submit a couple of concepts and the art medium planned and call to discuss.

“We have 16 applications thus far, but it would help to know approximate space needs for all art in order to plan the exhibit space. Please consider applying; it will be a fun experience for the town and all involved,” organizer Mary Beck said.

For more information, contact Beck at mfbeck@charter.net or 608-628-0757, or send a message through the website. The art challenge is being sponsored by Friends of Wabeno, a community improvement initiative in Wabeno.
