Dickinson County Community Theatre plans auditions
IRON MOUNTAIN — The Dickinson County Community Theatre will have auditions for “A Radio Host and Vaudeville Ghosts” from 1 to 3 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the Braumart Theatre in Iron Mountain.
The play is a satirical send up of talk radio and a comedic review of famous vaudeville artists such as Will Rogers, W.C. Fields, and the legendary Mae West.
Eight roles are available: three males, three females, and two for either male or female. The roles include Raus, the raucous middle-aged talk show host; Mrs. Nesselrode, the dominant female cultural maven of Ferrous Hill; a young female aide to Raus; Will Rogers; W.C. Fields; Mae West; an on-stage foley (sound effects) operator; and an ad announcer.
Persons will be required to wear masks at the in-person audition. “A Radio Host and Vaudeville Ghosts” mimics old-time “radio” shows where lines were read from scripts. So actors will not be required to memorize lines for this production.
A virtual audition will take place from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday. Check the Dickinson County Community Theatre page on Facebook for details on how to participate in the virtual audition.
Practices will take place in Zoom format on Mondays at 7 p.m. Feb. 15 and Feb 21. March practices will be March 1, March 8, March 15 and March 22 in Zoom format. On Wednesday, March 24, the cast will gather at the Braumart for complete run through; on Thursday, March 25, is “tech” rehearsal; Friday, March 26, is full dress; and Saturday, March 27, will be the 7 p.m. performance.
