Bay College selects winners from student art exhibition

ESCANABA — Bay College has announced award winners from the winter 2021 Student Art Exhibition.

Each year, Bay College hosts a gallery showing of the current students’ work. This semester the work from the courses Painting I, Digital Photo I and Visual Structures are represented in the gallery.

Each semester a “Purchase Prize Award” is given to one student per course. The work chosen becomes part of Bay College’s Art Collection. The students also receive second, third and honorable mention awards.

The “Purchase Prize Award” winners are Alyssa Alquist, “Self-Portrait,” painting; Laura Tirapelli, “Art Evolution,” animation; and Cheyenne La March, “Stop Asking,” digital photograph.

The other award winners include:

Digital Photo I — Second place, Garrett Van Nett, “Self-Portrait”; third place, Rhonda Menary, “Tangled”; honorable mention, Emily May.

Painting I — Second place, Janeen Fulkerson, “Self-Portrait”; third place, Anna LeBlanc, “Self-Portrait”; and honorable mention, Laura Tirapelli and Jane Karweick.

Visual Structures — Second place, Janeen Fulkerson; third place, Garrett Van Nett; honorable mention, Halle Gustafson, Anna LeBlanc, Jacinta Gasperich and Alyssa Alquist.

Their work will be on display this summer in the Besse Gallery.
