Scouts offer family camp

MUNISING — The Bay Lakes Council of the Boy Scouts is offering staffed Family Adventure Camp, a new camping experience at Camp Hiawatha in Alger County.

There are two three-day sessions. The first is Saturday, July 24, to Tuesday, July 27; and the second is Wednesday, July 28, to Saturday, July 31. Families can participate in staffed activities at the waterfront, shooting sports ranges, ecology center and crafts area or learn camping skills. There will be off-camp attractions such as cruising on Lake Superior, seeing waterfalls and lighthouses, hiking and bicycling on the many trails in the area.

The cost is $45 per person or $225 max per family for the session and includes a campsite with a permanent picnic shelter and table, flushing toilets in the campsite, and access to individual showers. Meals will not be provided. The trading post will be open for snacks, slushies, ice cream, popcorn, camping gear, T-shirts and more.
