Van Holla receives STARR Scholarship

NORWAY — Norway High School graduate Jeff Van Holla has received the STARR Scholarship to Michigan State University. Van Holla is the first Norway student to be selected for this honor.

An anonymous private donor has established the STARR Charitable Foundation Scholarship to provide a special, full-ride scholarship opportunity to high school seniors who reside in Wyoming and in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula.

This scholarship pays for all regular costs for eight semesters at Michigan State University. Benefits include tuition, fees, books, room, board, and incidental expenses as defined by the university, beginning with the fall semester of each year. STARR scholars must demonstrate academic interest and achievement by attaining a grade-point average of 3.0 or higher. Additionally, the scholars must demonstrate distinguished personal character and leadership ability.

Van Holla has been on the Academic Honor Roll throughout his high school career. He is a member of National Honor Society and has earned many other academic and athletic accolades.
