Library collection honors Khoury

A MEMORIAL COLLECTION honoring Susan Khoury will be on display at the Dickinson County Library in Iron Mountain and available through October.

IRON MOUNTAIN — The Dickinson County Library will display a memorial collection honoring the life of Susan Khoury at the Iron Mountain location throughout October, celebrating her birthday month.

Items in this memorial were donated from Khoury’s private collection. They include adult and juvenile fiction and non-fiction books, as well as music CDs.

Of special note are many Middle Eastern cookbooks, as she was a proud Arab American, founding member of the Arab American Museum in Detroit and frequent traveler to the Middle East.

Khoury was a devoted advocate for libraries and was on the Dickinson County Library Board from 1996 to 2020. She served with distinction as the board’s vice chair from 2000 to 2020. During her tenure, she also served on various committees, including policy, personnel and building, and was on the Superiorland Library Cooperative Board.

A complete list of items in this collection can be found by going to the library’s website at www.dcl-lib.org, clicking the “About Us” tab, clicking the “Memorial Funds” page, and clicking the “Susan Khoury Memorial” page.
