Yoga programs starting next week in Florence County

AURORA, Wis. — Yoga with or without a chair will be offered at the Northeast Wisconsin Technical College-Aurora Center through a partnership with the Aging and Disability Resource Center and Public Health of Florence County.

Classes will be Tuesdays and Thursdays: 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. for slow-flow yoga and 10 to 11 a.m. for chair yoga. Classes start on May 17 and run through July 26.

Chair yoga will also be from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Wednesdays starting May 18 through July 27 in the lower level of the Florence Resource Center in Florence, Wis.

There will be no classes the week of May 30 and the week of July 4.

Yoga is scientifically supported to help maintain mental health as well.

Yoga instructor Lynn Mueller is a 500-hour certified yoga instructor and has had personal success in participating and leading yoga classes. She is a graduate of Florence County High School and now owns the icanyoga2 studio.

The classes are open to all adults and the program is appropriate for both sedentary and active individuals. The chair provides extra support for those who may need it, but it is not required.

Cost is $5 per session, to be paid at each class. Those interested in participating can call 715-528-3426 to sign up. Registration is required. Arrive early for the first class to complete paperwork.
