Menominee County Library plans 100-year celebration
STEPHENSON — The public is invited to the centennial celebration for the Menominee County Library and the 50th anniversary of the Friends of the Library on Saturday, July 30, at S319 Railroad St. in Stephenson.
“The Menominee County Library staff in Stephenson and Hermansville, along with the Friends of the Menominee County Library, are so grateful for your support over the past 100 years,” said Amanda Winnicki, library director. “Please join us to celebrate this amazing milestone. We look forward to serving our communities for the next 100 years and beyond.”
The library from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. will offer refreshments and live music from Kimberly Fournier and Alexander Hamilton of Abilone.
The bookmobile will be present and there will also be children’s activities, bucket raffle to support Friends of the Library activities, handcrafted and unique items from more than 25 vendors and a Menominee County 4-H photo exhibit.
The library also is celebrating two special additions, thanks to the Freis and Plutchak families. The Jerris Freis study room and the Tammy Plutchak pavilion will be dedicated at 11 a.m. The study room is a quiet space that can be reserved for personal use and the pavilion is a great spot to read outside or use the library’s free Wi-Fi.
The celebration kicks off the library’s Used Book Fair as well. It will be set up in the garage behind the library and will extend through Aug. 20 during regular library hours: 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Mondays; 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Friday; and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturdays. A free-will offering for the books is appreciated.
Joining the celebration from its U.S. 41 location will be 41 Treasures with outside craft vendors, as well as other local area businesses and restaurants.
Donated items for the bucket raffle can be dropped off at the library by Thursday, July 28.
