IRON MOUNTAIN — The Dickinson County Library has announced the 2026 selections for the Agnes Jayne Memorial Library Fund.
The 33rd memorial fund will be on display starting Thursday through May 18 as a tribute to Mother’s Day at the Dickinson County Library in Iron Mountain.
Established in November 1993, the Agnes Jayne Memorial Library Fund provides readers with the latest in romantic fiction.
Annual contributions have been made by her daughter, Mary (Jayne) Erickson Parrott, to the endowment in honor of her children, Terri (Erickson) Court, Gary and Gregg Erickson; and her five grandsons, Benjamin and Joshua Court and Colin, Connor, and Caleb Erickson. The fund has grown substantially since its commencement.
Agnes Jayne was born Jan. 11, 1912, in Iron Mountain. This year would have been her 113th birthday. She was a lifelong resident of Iron Mountain and graduated from Iron Mountain High School in 1930.
She married Kenneth W. Jayne on Jan. 28, 1931, and he preceded her in death in 1967. She worked for many years in sales, including the women’s department at Colenso’s clothing store. She continued on at Frankini’s Jewelry and Gifts until her retirement at age 70. She passed away Nov. 16, 1993.
When not working, Jayne was a devoted library supporter whose weekly visits were cherished by the staff she knew well. She also was a dedicated volunteer at St. Vincent de Paul, an avid reader, enjoyed crocheting, playing cards and being with her many friends.
This endowment provides local residents with reading treasures to enjoy throughout the years.
