KINGSFORD — Suzan and Frank Opolka will celebrate their 50th anniversary today. Suzan Peterson of Florence, Wis., and Frank Opolka of Norway were married on April 8, 1972, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Florence. The couple met in December of 1970, when Frank returned home to Norway from the Vietnam War. They have a son, Jason, and his wife, Dr. Maria Laporta Opolka, and three grandchildren, Rozlin, Aliza and Conroy; and a daughter, Jayme Lyn, who is a freelance medical and pharmaceutical writer.
