Goodfellas to perform at Music in the Park in Norway

The Goodfellas featuring Dave Ebsch, left, and John Wills will perform at 7 p.m. Thursday at Music in the Park in Norway.

NORWAY — With the unexpected cancellation of the Cadillacs due to illness, Music in the Park volunteers worked overtime to find a replacement group for the next concert at the Norway band shell on Thursday. A group new to Music in the Park, Goodfellas, will take stage at 7 p.m. to entertain the crowd.

John Wills and Dave Ebsch began their collaboration in the winter of 2013 and have played almost every music venue in the Menominee-Marinette area.

Their music is a mixed bag, which includes old standards — which their nursing home audiences love — to vintage rock, country and a little contemporary influence as well.

They have entertained a wide variety of audiences from young to old. They have played local eateries, bars, country clubs, business parties, and reunions, as well as a wedding or two.

Goodfellas love to interact with their audiences, and look forward to playing at new venues as often as possible.

“Two voices, two guitars, and a lot of fun,” said event coordinator Carol Sundstrom.

“We hope folks that come into Iron Mountain for Out to Lunch with the Mark Young and Bill Morrison will enjoy a great lunch with the outstanding food vendors there, then come down to enjoy Goodfellas,” she added.

The Norway Music Boosters will sell drinks, ice cream, and other light concessions, while the Norway Area Preservation Society will sell Chicago style hot dogs, beverages and popcorn.

Some seating is available at the band shell, but those taking in the performances can bring lawn chairs.

Music in the Park is financially supported by several organizations, businesses and individuals this year. Major underwriters include: The Curtis Brackett Fund, Law Offices of Tinti and Goodman, Integrity Care EMS, Norway Area Preservation Society, Jim’s Music of Iron Mountain (a season sponsor), and the Vulcan-Norway-Loretto Lions Club. Additional support has come from numerous individual and anonymous sponsors.

Upcoming Music in the Park performances include:

July 18: The Daydreamers

July 25: Stress Test

Aug. 1: Hand Picked Bluegrass

Aug. 8: Flagship Romance

Aug. 15: Norton, Chartier & Company (full band)

In case of inclement weather, concerts will be held this year at the Crossroads Church behind the historical museum on Odill Drive.
